We have indirectly dealt with errors in police procedure throughout the hundreds of pages in this bible, and we're afraid it's impossible to do it in any less.

Here are the links to the main pages you need to read. By reading them you will gain an understanding of how the police should operate and how the devices should be used. This understanding will give you insight in to any possible defence you may have.

It's also well worth checking out some of the other common loopholes on the left menu which exploit failures inherent in police procedure.

Finally, here are some of the more common examples of errors in police procedure:

Officer not turning up in court
Officer failing to give you a verbal NIP
Prosecution failing to send the written NIP so that it arrives with you in 14 days
Device not being calibrated at the beginning and end of each shift

Officer failing to achieve relevant certificate to operate a specific device
Officer 'scanning' all traffic. The law states they need to first visually identify a speeding car and then target it with a device to corroborate that prior opinion

Prosecution not sending you a copy of the evidence against you within 7 days of the court date
Prosecution not sending you a summons within 6 months of the date of the alleged offence/NIP
Prosecution manipulating the photographic evidence against you (they should be able to provide the original/negatives)
Officer picking your vehicle out in a line of traffic
Officer using the device from a bridge without taking in to consideration the height of the bridge
Officer using the device from behind a glass window
Static device is positioned illegally/is not in accordance with ACPO location criteria
